Das Ganze begann schon im Artikel <a href="http://www.baldenhofer.eu/blog/ubuntu/kubuntu-und-ati-vertragen" class="liinternal">Kubuntu und ATI vertragen sich nicht so ganz</a>. <p>Somit ist zumindest klar, dass xrandr alles sauber erkennt.<br />
Im Moment denke ich, dass Imbo Sim recht hat und krandr hier eine Macke hat.<br />
In n&#228;chster Zeit habe ich, glaube ich, weniger Lust dieses Problem weiter zu betrachten.<br />
Ich denke das muss bis zum n&#228;chsten Update von krandr warten.</p>
<h3>Manuelle xorg.conf Konfiguration</h3>
<p>Ach ja, noch kurz zu diesem Versuch:<br />
Ich habe, wie Imbo Sim vorgeschlagen hat, die manuelle Konfiguration der /etc/X11/xorg.conf durchgef&#252;hrt.<br />
Leider hatte ich vergessen, den krandr abzuschalten und deshalb hat die default Einstellung von KDE meine Konfiguration wieder &#252;berschrieben.</p>

Ich habe Kubuntu draufgespielt und bin an der Konfiguration der Monitore h&#228;ngen geblieben.</p>
<h3>Das Problem</h3>
<p>Ich habe zwei unterschiedliche Monitore und eine Onboard ATI Radeon XPress 1250.<br />
Bei ATI gibt es seit einer ziemlich langen Zeit das Problem, dass die Treiber nicht mehr zu den aktuellen Kerneln passen.<br />
Die Open Source Treiber haben auch ihre Schwierigkeiten und so hat der arme Anwender immer wieder lange Diskussionen mit seiner Konfiguration um sich seine &#8220;Spezialw&#252;nsche&#8221; zu erf&#252;llen.</p>
<h3>L&#246;sung unter Gentoo</h3>
<p>Bei Gentoo &#252;bersetzt man ja bekanntlich seine Sourcen selber.<br />
Das bedeutet, dass man sich seine ATI-Treiber von der ATI Homepage herunterl&#228;dt und diese testen ob der Kernel zu den Sourcen passt.<br />
Ok, soweit kommt man eigentlich gar nicht, da im Portage die Abh&#228;ngigkeit schon drin steht und einem das emerge dann schon auf die Finger klopft.<br />
Man l&#228;dt sich dann einen alten Kernel herunter und betreibt die Maschine damit.<br />
Dann klappt es auch mit dem Treiber unter KDE, Gnome usw.</p>
<h3>Problem bei Ubuntu / Kubuntu</h3>
<p>Die Standard Installation vertr&#228;gt sich wegen Lizenzfragen nicht mit den ATI Drivern.<br />
Es wird der Open Source Driver verwendet.<br />
Dieser funktioniert f&#252;r den Betrieb mit einem Monitor wunderbar.<br />
Will man nun jedoch Dual Head in Betrieb nehmen, dann klappt die Konfiguration unter KDE nicht.</p>
<p>Meine Versuche, die fglrx Driver zu installieren, f&#252;hrten dazu, dass der X-Server v&#246;llig abrauchte.<br />
Am Ende zeigten meine zwei Bildschirme immer die gleichen Elemente an.</p>
<p>Beim Start:<br />

Beim Betrieb wurden also auf beiden Bildschirmen das gleiche Bild angezeigt:<br />

Wenn ich auf Gnome wechsle, kann ich die Proportionen der Bildschirmaufteilung entsprechend anpassen.<br />
Der Start sieht immer noch wie vorher aus, also beide Bildschirme zeigen die Login Maske:<br />

Aber wenn der Loginscreen &#252;berwunden ist, erscheinen die Programme, wie gew&#252;nscht auf den beiden Bildschirmen:<br />

Es k&#246;nnen also alle Anwendungen auf zwei Bildschirmen verteilt werden.</p>
<h3>Fazit</h3>
<p>Die Open Source Treiber f&#252;r die ATI Karten funktionieren einwandfrei.<br />
Die Aufl&#246;sung der Monitore k&#246;nnen unterschiedlich eingestellt werden.<br />
Bei Ubuntu Gnome ist die Integration von XRandR und den weiteren Konfigurationstools besser integriert als bei KDE.<br />
Hier hat Kubuntu meiner Meinung nach noch schw&#228;chen die man jedoch korrigieren k&#246;nnte. Vermutlich habe ich einfach das Pech gehabt, dass die ATI Driver grunds&#228;tzlich ein wenig mehr Probleme machen als andere Hersteller.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<div class="seriesmeta"><strong>Dieser Artikel ist Teil 22 von 28 der Artikelserie <a href="http://www.baldenhofer.eu/blog/series/ubuntu" title="series-256"> ubuntu</a> </strong> </div><p>Heute m&#246;chte ich mal probieren, ein Kubuntu auf meinem Entwicklungsrechner zu installieren.<br />
Bei der B&#252;chse handelt es sich um einen Desktop mit einem Dual Core Pentium 3GHz Prozessor und 4 GByte Arbeitsspeicher.<br />
Bis auf die Wirelesskarte (Texas Instrument ACX 111 54Mps) sollte eigentlich alles soweit kein Problem sein.<br />
Diesen Artikel hier schreibe ich von meinem kleinen Asus Eee 900 der sich schick neben der Tastatur des Entwicklungsrechners hinstellen l&#228;sst <img src='http://www.baldenhofer.eu/blog/wp-includes/images/smilies/icon_wink.gif' alt=';)' class='wp-smiley' /><br />
Der Entwicklungsrechner hat noch zwei Monitore, einen DELL 2407WFP mit 24&#8221; und einen Philips Brillance 200P mit 21&#8221;.</p>
<h3>Samstag, 9:40 Vorbereitung</h3>
<p>Zuerst musste ich mir Kubuntu herunterladen, da die bereits vorhandene Installations CD einen Macken hatte.<br />
Das Ganze dauerte ca. 20 Minuten.<br />
In dieser Zeit hatte ich Zeit einen CD Rohling zu finden, mit Jozo zu scprechen und diesen Artikel hier anzufangen.</p>
<h3>10:09 CD brennen</h3>
<p>Wenn das Gentoo System w&#252;sste, dass es sich seine eigene Todes-CD brennt, es w&#228;re vermutlich zum Verweigerer geworden.<br />
Gentoo- Systeme wissen aber nichts und der K3B brennt alles, Hauptsache es ist rund und passt in den CD-Brenner.</p>
<h3>10:14 Erstes Booten von CD</h3>
<p>So, jetzt kann es losgehen.<br />
Die CD ist frisch gebrannt und liegt immer noch im Laufwerk.<br />
Beim Start werde ich nach der zu verwendenden Sprache gefragt. Da es immer noch kein Schw&#228;bisch gibt, nehme ich halt Deutsch. <img src='http://www.baldenhofer.eu/blog/wp-includes/images/smilies/icon_wink.gif' alt=';)' class='wp-smiley' /><br />
Das Men&#252; fragt mich, ob ich Kubuntu ausprobieren oder installieren will.<br />
Ich will installieren. Keine Freunde und keine Feinde mehr&#8230;</p>
<h3>10:18 Grundeinstellungen und Festplatten Partitionieren</h3>
<p>Ich stelle ein, dass ich in der Gegend von Berlin wohne, dass ich eine deutsche Tastatur habe und dann kommt die Festplattenkonfiguration.<br />
Dann kommt ein Verwandter meiner Frau zur T&#252;re rein und ich muss kurz unterbrechen&#8230;</p>
<h3>10:25 Es geht weiter</h3>
<p>Der Verwandte ist nun bei meiner Frau und ich darf weiter machen.<br />
Ich m&#246;chte nicht sehr viele Partitionen.<br />
Mir tut es der SWAP, der root- und der home-Mountpoint.<br />
Eigentlich will ich ja nur entwickeln.<br />
Also lege ich 80GByte root, 320GByte home und 8GByte SWAP an.<br />
Beim SWAP nehme ich die alte Regel zur Hand, dass man immer doppelt so viel SWAP haben sollte als RAM.</p>
<h3>10:28 Formatierung beendet, Kubuntu wird installiert</h3>
<p>Das Anlegen von ext3 braucht immer noch seine Zeit, aber was solls, man kann sich ja anderweitig besch&#228;ftigen.</p>
<h3>Irgendwann vor 10:34</h3>
<p>Das System ist mit der Formatiererei fertig und installiert das Kubuntu Baispaket.<br />
Der Rechner f&#228;hrt hoch und zeigt mir meine beiden Bildschirme mit relativ kleiner Aufl&#246;sung.</p>
<h3>10:40 Netzwerk klappt nicht</h3>
<p>Das h&#228;tte mich auch irgendwie gewundert.<br />
Ein Blick mit lsmod zeigt mir, dass das Modul acx richtig geladen wurde.<br />
&#220;ber den NetworkManager kann ich keinen Access-Point finden.<br />
Ich stoppe mit <span class="code">/etc/init.d/NetworkManager stop</span> den Netzwerkmanager.<br />
Dann konfiguriere ich die Datei <strong>/etc/network/interfaces</strong>.</p>

<p>Die Platzhalter kannst du dir ja mit deinen eigenen Eintr&#228;gen denken, falls du mal in die manuell zu konfigurierende Ecke kommst.<br />
Mit <span class="code">/etc/init.d/NetworkManager stop</span> stoppe ich den NetworkManager, der mir so (leider) nichts nutzt.<br />
Dann verschiebe ich noch den symbolischen Link /etc/init.d/S50NetworkManager irgendwo hin und erstelle einen neuen Link<br />
<span class="code">ln -s /etc/init.d/networking /etc/rc2.d/S50Networking</span><br />
Damit erreiche ich, dass meine manuelle Konfiguration auch nach dem restart noch funktioniert.<br />
Als Letztes musste ich noch in die Datei <span class="code">/etc/resolv.conf</span> die Nameserver eintragen. Ist ja jetzt alles manuell&#8230;<br />
Also irgendwie sowas:</p>

<p>Danach starte ich das Netzwerk mit <span class="code">/etc/init.d/network restart</span><br />
Mit <span class="code">aptitude update</span> aktualisiere ich erst einmal meine Paketverwaltung.</p>
<h3>10:59 Firefox installieren</h3>
<p>Ein Rechner ohne Firefox ist f&#252;r mich ein bisschen langweilig. Also habe ich zuerst mal den Firefox mit <span class="code">aptitude install firefox</span> installiert.</p>
<h3>11:02 Updates installieren</h3>
<p>Das System sagt mir, dass einige Updates vorhanden sind. Bevor ich also mich an Fehlersuche usw. mache, installiere ich zuerst einmal alles was sich updaten l&#228;sst.</p>
<h3>Aufl&#246;sung und Dual Head einstellen</h3>
<p>Meine Grafikkarte ist eine ATI Radeon X1200.<br />
Und da waren sie, meine Probleme.<br />
Da ich zwei Bildschirme habe, m&#246;chte ich Dual Head verwenden und so z.B. mit Xinerama einen gro&#223;en Bildschirm darstellen.<br />
Es ist ein wenig unsinnig, wenn man zwei Bildschirme hat, die einem das gleiche Bild zeigen.<br />
Unter KDE habe ich das nicht hinbekommen.<br />
ATI und der neue Kernel m&#246;gen sich nicht.<br />
Die Konfigurationsdateien (xorg.conf usw.) wollte ich nicht anlangen.<br />
Und wenn ich einen nativen Treiber verwendete, bekam ich nur noch ein v&#246;llig zerst&#246;rtes Bild ohne Tastatur usw. hin.<br />
Dann bin ich kurz mal auf Gnome umgestiegen.<br />
Und siehe da, alles ist m&#246;glich.<br />
Kubuntu kann also im Moment nicht mit den ATI-Karten richtig umgehen.<br />
Oder anders gesagt, ich kann damit nicht umgehen.<br />
Egal, jetzt ist es 16:00 und ich habe f&#252;nf Stunden mit diesem Fehler Reparaturversuch verbracht.<br />
Bis ich Schnarchzapfen mal kapiert habe, dass ich einen ssh D&#228;mon aufschalten sollte um die Konfiguration &#252;ber einen anderen Rechner r&#252;ckg&#228;ngig zu machen, hatte ich insgesamt vier mal eine Neuinstallation durchf&#252;hren m&#252;ssen!<br />
Ich bin einfach nicht in der Lage gewesen ohne X den Rechner hochzufahren.<br />
Der Spruch &#8220;Sch&#246;nheit vergeht, Dummheit bleibt&#8221; ist da wohl wieder mal angebracht <img src='http://www.baldenhofer.eu/blog/wp-includes/images/smilies/icon_smile.gif' alt=':)' class='wp-smiley' /><br />
Das war jetzt nicht viel weniger Arbeitszeit als Gentoo installieren <img src='http://www.baldenhofer.eu/blog/wp-includes/images/smilies/icon_wink.gif' alt=';)' class='wp-smiley' /><br />
Daf&#252;r habe ich jetzt nicht ganz das System was ich haben wollte&#8230;<br />
Naja, man kann nicht alles haben.</p>

Die ati-drivers sind ein bisschen motzig wenn es um die Kernelversion geht.
Um nun aber doch den aktuellen Kernel benutzen zu k&#246;nnen, kann der normale emerge ati-drivers leider nicht verwendet werden.
Da kommt dann eine Meldung, dass dieser Treiber nicht mit dem Kernel will.
Zum Gl&#252;ck gibt es findige Gentoo User.

die Dateikollisison kann nicht mehr auftreten.<br />
